Actor-turned-politician Sanjay Dutt was recently treated to a nostalgic indulgence by his close friend and mentor, Amar Singh. The actor was taken to the place where his mother late actress Nargis was born. The rundown building stands on 8 Indian Mirror Street in Kolkatta.

Dutt arrived accompanied by Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh and protected by his private security guards. The locality was alive to cries of "Munnnabhai zindabad" and "Sanjay Dutt zindabad". The visibly emotional star was immediately taken into the house. It is believed that legendary actress Nargis was born in a room in the house in 1929 to a Muslim mother, Allahabad-based singer Jaddanbai, and a Hindu father, Uttamchand Mohanchand.

Dutt spent ten minutes in the room all alone and was clearly overcome by nostalgia. He emotionally thanked Amar Singh for unearthing the place and giving him the chance to reconnect with memories of his mother. The actor and his entourage soon left for Nalhati in Birbhum to address an election meeting.
